Carmine's with the Family
On Saturday July 7, Grandma, Sandi and Janet took Julia to see the Lion King in Manhattan. (Little did we know the story would become a major obsession for her.) Afterward we met Paul and Aunt Michelle at Carmine's for big, family-style Italian dinner.

First Time on the Staten Island Ferry
It's hard to tell, but this picture was taken on the Staten Island Ferry, 7/6/07. It was the first time for Sandi, Janet and Julia; Grandma Elaine showed us the ropes.
The weather on our second day in New York was beautiful. We visited Ground Zero after the ferry ride and got back to Grandma's in time for Julia to go swimming.Inwood Playground
After the Met, we went up to Eliot and Michelle and Paul's apartment in Inwood (7/5/07). Julia loved the frog fountain!

We to New York on July 4 for a short visit with Grandma Elaine and to show Aunt Sandi around; it was her first time in the city. It rained the first day, so we went to the Metropolitan Museum. (Janet, Sandi, Mom, Julia)
There's a lovely rooftop sculpture garden at the Met with a (foggy) view of Central Park.
Julia remembered to feed her (imaginary) rat friends, who were playing in the bushes.

Julia and Cousin Shannon @ the SF Zoo
The new grizzly bear exhibit was OK, but the cotton candy was superb (6/07).
Albuquerque in June
We went on a short trip to Albuquerque in June, piggy-backing on mom's conference. Julia was ready for bed (sort of) in the rental car office.
At the Albuquerque botanical gardens, we visited a butterfly house that was a wonder to wander through.
The Sandia tram took us up to 10,000 feet for spectacular views of the city and beyond.

We drove to a funky museum called Tinkertown outside of Albuquerque. The artist created room after room of diaramas showing circuses, old Western towns, and the like.
It was hot a hot night at the Albuquerque Zoo, where we saw a concert.
Mom and her boss won an award at the ACE conference, so we got to present a display.

Cousin Carie's Graduation
In November, we went to Cousin Carie's college graduation in Sacramento. Uncle Garth and Aunt Barbie (in from Texas) were so proud. They took us all out to the Spaghetti Garden afterward.Sharon and Xandra.

Big Basin Camping Trip
We went to Big Basin for a little camping trip in June. There was a REALLY big tree near the visitor's center.
Mom once lived in an apartment that was smaller than the inside of this tree.
On our hike, dad found some old-man's beard. Julia hiked more than two miles through a beautiful redwood forest.
Julia explored the campsite, which was a walk-in up a hill.
