Purply
Julia spends a lot of time these days taking care of her balloon family. She makes clothes for the balloons, bathes them in the sink, cooks food and feeds them (including "nursing"...) and puts them to bed. Her absolute favorite balloon is Purply.
Visiting the Snow
It was snowing up the hill from Markleeville on Feb. 18. Julia said it was "raining snow."
The next day, we took her to Sorenson's to go sledding for the first time. Who's enjoying themself more?

Grover Hot Springs
After visiting in Placerville (Feb. 17), we drove up to Markleeville to spend the rest of the weekend. At Grover Hot Springs, Julia was hesitant at first to go in the hot pool, but once she tried it she was hooked.

President's Day Weekend - Placerville
On President's Day Weekend (February 17, 2007), we drove up to Placerville to visit Greg's folks, Dot and John.
Julia and Shannon hung out on the deck...
...and played with their art kits.
Julia was taking care of Cow-Cow, so Shannon needed to check on Kitty.
When Shannon got home, she apparently renamed one of her bears "Bear-Bear."

Tyler's basketball game
In February, we went to see Cousin Tyler's last basketball game of the season. Julia was much more interested in the little daisies on the lawn outside the school. Tyler picked some for her.
Sophie kitty
From time to time, "Sophie" successfully challenges the balloons for Julia's attention. Julia likes to dress Sophie up in her dolls' clothes.
Cal Academy of Sciences with Shannon
Making good on a Christmas Day pledge, Janet and Bel (and Greg and Josh) managed to get Julia and her (second) cousin Shannon together at the California Academy of Sciences, on the last Sunday in January 2007. Julia and Shannon have a cosmic connection - they share the same birthday, a year apart.
Conservatory of Flowers
On Martin Luther King Day in January, we took Julia to Golden Gate Park. The DeYoung Museum was closed, but we had a great time at the wonderful and beautiful Conservatory of Flowers. Julia had a hard time with not touching the flowers.
First (and last?) visit to Berkeley Iceland
In late January 2007, Mom took Julia to Iceland for her first spin on skates. It was much harder than she expected! Perhaps Julia had a premonition that Iceland was about to close for good.
Jessie's birthday party
In late January, Dad took Julia to Jesse's birthday party at the Lawrence Hall of Science. After the hat project, they saw lots of little animals up close. (Jesse is in red, next to Julia.)

Sunday in Calistoga
On Sunday, January 7,2007, we drove up to Calistoga to visit with our "Country Cousins" Ron and Kathye (and their amazingly athletic grandson, Archie). They made a wonderful lunch and it was warm enough to sit outside (gotta love that global warming...).
Julia was given a doll as a present. This is the first time we've seen her play with one. (Later she put the clothes on her stuffed kitty, Sophie.)
Bug in a Rug
Before Julia was born, Mom was given a "bug"-themed shower in New York. Cousin Lois made her a beautiful "(VW) Bug" quilt. We usually hang it on the wall, but Julia likes to curl up in it now and then.
Julia's Gala 4th Birthday Week
On Julia's birthday (January 2, 2007), Aunt Sandi brought over a bouquet of balloons - new additions for Julia's burgeoning "balloon family."

Birthday party at Aquarium of the the Bay
On January 6, 2007, Julia had her birthday party at Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39 (thank you, The Bay Institute!) with her best friends Katie and Jesse (and their moms), and all of her grandparents and parents. Julia LOVES fish, and so does her dad.

Julia and Katie took their time walking through the tunnels, and Jesse spent most of his visit running laps. He stopped long enough for a picture.

At the end, the kids got to touch urchins and starfish. (Grandma Elaine, Julia, Grandpa John, Grandma Dorothy.)
Lunch at Rainforest Cafe
After the aquarium, we all walked over to the Rainforest Cafe. Jesse was pretty silly.
So were Emily and Katie.
Mom and Grandma were so proud of Julia.
Julia was pretty overwhelmed by all of the activity at the Rainforest Cafe, but not too much to blow out the candles. Per family tradition, she decorated the cake herself.
Birthday at Rockridge Little School
On January 8, Grandma Elaine read a book to Julia and her pals at Rockridge Little School.
They were enthralled by "Jack and the Beanstalk."
Because it was her birthday, Julia got to ask the "Question of the Day." After much thought, she asked, "When you have a birthday, how old will you be?" The answers ranged from "four" to "a hundred."

Christmas Day 2006
On Christmas morning, Julia came downstairs to an exciting present - "pets"! Somehow Mom and Dad (mostly Dad) pulled off getting the tank set up without her knowing about it.
Greg got a game set; Mom used her new "last analog camera."
Xandra was a good girl and her wish came true - an iPod nano.
Uncle Gary, Grandma Dorothy, Grandpa John.
Julia shows Uncle Dave her new beanbag chair, a present from him, Aunt Sandi and the Slowleys.
